What is IPL and How Does it Work?

Candela Nordly’s uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), an advanced treatment designed to target a variety of skin concerns, including redness (erythema), pigmentation, sun damage, and excess hair. By using pulses of visible light through selective wavelength filters, IPL can specifically target chromophores (skin structures with different colours) to treat these issues effectively.

How IPL Works:

Unlike traditional lasers, which emit a single wavelength of light, IPL is non-ablative and emits multiple wavelengths with each pulse. This allows it to treat various chromophores, such as melanin (responsible for pigmentation) and oxyhemoglobin (which is present in blood vessels and contributes to redness). When these chromophores absorb the light energy, it causes thermal damage that helps reduce imperfections like age spots, redness, and pigmentation.
